Assessments for ASD or ADHD near you in Hampshire
The Nook Neurodevelopmental Clinic is a private clinic based in Farnham, Surrey and South Kensington, London offering tailored Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) screenings and assessments.
Our clinic is easily accessible from Hampshire, and we welcome individuals from across the South East looking for comprehensive help and support.
The clinic was established by Dr Selina Warlow, a Clinical Psychologist with over 10 years of experience working in mental health services for the NHS and The Priory. She manages a multidisciplinary team of dedicated and experienced professionals, including specialist clinical psychologists, speech and language therapists and occupational therapists.
We offer bespoke assessments for children, young people, and adults following NICE best practice guidelines, which are the same guidelines followed by the NHS. We also use gold-standard assessment tools for both Autism and ADHD assessments, including the QB Check, ACE, ADIR and ADOS-2. The assessment and report are tailored to each individual and we want to ensure that individuals and their families feel supported through the assessment process.
Our diagnoses are multi-disciplinary and in line with assessments completed in the NHS. If you have questions, please see our FAQs or contact us; we will gladly help. For any overview of the costs involved, please see our fees.

Private ASD or autism diagnostic screening tests Hampshire
We know that all adults and children with autism will experience different strengths and challenges that will be unique to them. Through our assessment, we aim to learn more about each individual and assess for Autism Spectrum Disorder to guide individuals to the right support to reach their full potential. We are passionate about helping individuals of all ages understand whether an ASD diagnosis may explain their difficulties or differences. We are also aware that some individuals with Autism may mask their challenges and that is ok, we will seek information from multiple sources to learn more about this.
Our assessments are comprehensive. We use gold-standard assessment tools, including both the ADI-R developmental interview and the ADOS- 2 face to face assessment tool. We also use a wide range of screening measures, which we will send out to individuals, their families and schools (for child assessments). We are unique as a service because we prefer to complete our assessments face to face, which feels more personal but also helps us to get a better understanding of you or your child’s behaviours, which can’t always be picked up online. We also work hard to make people feel at ease during the assessment process and have had lovely feedback from families about our clinic feeling like a safe and nurturing place to come for an assessment.
As part of the assessment process, we can also examine the profile of Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA). Although PDA is not a formally recognised diagnosis, it is a profile in some individuals on the autism spectrum. Characteristics include resistance to everyday demands and requests, which is often driven by anxiety. We can explore this profile in any ASD assessment.

Autism assessments for children and adults
We are aware of how difficult it can be to choose the right person to assess you or your child for autism. We are specialised in neurodiversity and want to reassure you that we will ensure you and/or your child are supported through the assessment process. We use gold-standard assessment tools and follow the NICE guidelines used by the NHS. We offer an in-depth developmental history using the ADI-R assessment tool, followed by a face-to-face appointment using the ADOS-2 assessment. We also gather information for our child assessments from your child’s school. We know some children may ‘mask’ at school, and that is ok, but that is why we collect information from more than one source. We then will write an in-depth assessment report with tailored recommendations for support. To ensure you feel supported through the process, we also offer a feedback meeting after the assessment and report have been completed so you can ask us any questions and we can guide you through the next stage of support.

ADHD assessments for children in Hampshire
Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) has three different diagnoses: inattentive, hyperactive and impulsive and combined type. In the past, it was thought that boys are more commonly affected than girls, with around 7 per cent of school-age children with the condition. However, more recently, there has been more research on how women and girls with ADHD present, which has led to a greater understanding of the conditions.
Signs of ADHD can include inattentiveness, hyperactivity, and impulsiveness. Our comprehensive ADHD assessments explore all these areas. The evaluation includes using detailed questionnaires, interviews with parents or individuals for adults, and relevant information provided by your child’s school with your permission.
Once this is in place, we can complete a face-to-face assessment using a QB check. This is a computer-based test that objectively measures the three core symptoms of ADHD. Your/your child’s score is then measured against a group of children of the same age. The assessment can also take into account other difficulties you or your child may be experiencing. Following the evaluation, you will then be given a full report detailing the outcome and recommendations. We want to ensure that the assessment process feels helpful, as we will guide you through any recommendation and support during a feedback meeting after receiving the full report.

Autism in women and girls Hampshire
In the past, it was widely believed that predominantly boys and men had ASD. However, it is now understood that many girls and women have the condition. It is essential that they get the correct diagnoses so they access support and better understand the world around them.
Autism may present itself differently in girls because they seem to have fewer social difficulties than boys and men, and it is thought they do this by ‘masking.’ Girls at school may be more likely to be part of a friendship group, and teachers might overlook their differences.
Our clinicians have a wealth of experience diagnosing autism in girls, and we allow for additional questions during the interview and ADOS assessment stages. We also use a questionnaire designed for girls to ensure we capture the difference we see in girls with ASD.
