The Nook Neurodevelopmental Clinic provides specialist private autism (ASD) and ADHD assessments for Children and Adults. Our main aim during the assessment process is to help you find the right support for yourself or your child.

Dr Selina Warlow, a Clinical Psychologist, founded the Nook Neurodevelopmental Clinic. She brings over a decade of experience working across mental health services for the NHS and The Priory. Together with a multidisciplinary team of specialists, we will support you with an in-depth and comprehensive assessment. We have a team of highly specialist clinicians, including clinical psychologists, speech and language therapists and occupational therapists.

Dr Warlow and her team can support you through the diagnosis process and help at any stage. All assessments are multidisciplinary and use gold-standard assessment tools, including the ADOS 2, QB-Check, ACE, and ADI-R. They also align with the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines, which the NHS follows.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a lifelong neurodevelopmental condition that can affect how a child or adult relates to the world around them. We can complete accurate and detailed autism assessments so you can gain a greater understanding of an individual’s strengths and needs.

Whilst many people do not like to think of ‘labels’, there are many advantages to getting a diagnosis. This includes greater understanding so you can seek out the right support and access relevant educational provisions or support, which can help you or your child make more sense of the world.

We put a multi-disciplinary perspective at the heart of our work and complete each assessment using detailed questionnaires, online interviews, a face-to-face diagnostic assessment, and other tools.

If demand-avoidant patterns exist, we can include a pathological demand avoidance (PDA) assessment within any autism report.

Child autism assessments

We offer NICE guidelines-compliant ASD assessments for children. This will be able to tell you if your child does or does not have autism. Our final reports include recommendations on education, health, and social care needs for your school and GP.

Adult autism assessments

We support adults of all ages to help them understand if autism is why they see the world differently. The screening follows several stages, including written, video, and face-to-face assessments

ADHD assessments for adults and children in Sussex

If your child is inattentive, impulsive, or hyperactive, you may concerned about Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) or Attention-Deficit Disorder (ADD). We offer complete ADHD testing and evaluation.

We will gather as much information as possible about the child’s development from parents, carers, and the school. We will then meet with the child for a face-to-face observational assessment and complete a QB check, a computer-based test that measures the three core symptoms of ADHD.

You will receive a detailed report outlining the diagnostic outcome and recommendations after any assessment. This will be followed up with a feedback appointment, and we will signpost further support and clinical help if needed.

Autism in girls Sussex

Autistic symptoms in women and girls differ from those seen in men. Historically, health providers and caregivers have overlooked autism in girls because they do not show the ‘typical’ autistic traits. This is thought to be because research focused mainly on boys.

We have extensive experience diagnosing women and girls and will ask extra questions during the interview and ADOS assessment stages to help us understand them better.
