Child and adult autism assessments Surrey
Our services: Autism and ADHD assessments in Surrey
We understand that it can be daunting to reach out for help, and we want to reassure you that we will do our best to make the assessment and diagnostic process for Autism and ADHD as supportive and helpful as possible. We also use gold standard assessment tools and follow the NICE guidelines, which are the same as those followed by the NHS, to ensure that you receive a comprehensive and helpful report that can be used to access further support if needed.

Adult and child autism assessments
Our multi-disciplinary autism assessments follow a series of steps, including sending out screening questionnaires to explore symptoms of Autism but also look at other conditions which can be commonly associated with Autism, including Anxiety and Depression.
This is followed by an in-depth developmental history using the ADI-R tool. A formal assessment will then occur at our Farnham clinic using the ADOS-2 assessment tool. We aim to explore areas you or your child may be struggling with but also learn more about your/their unique strengths. Following the assessment, we will provide a comprehensive report. Our reports will detail recommendations for future support and could be used to apply for an education, health and care (EHC) plan or access further support
We are also aware that some people with autism may ‘mask’ some of their difficulties, and that is ok. Our team is trained for ensure we assess for this and this is why we gather information from multiple sources as part of the assessment process.

ADHD assessments for adults & children in Surrey
We provided ADHD assessments for children in Surrey. Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) looks at the three types of ADHD- Inattentive, Hyperactive and Impulsive and Combined. Attention-Deficit Disorder (ADD) is a term people often use to describe the formal diagnosis of Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder – Inattentive Type.
As with our ASD diagnoses, all ADHD testing and evaluation is in line with NHS practice and follows the NICE guidelines using gold standard assessment measures. We also carry out screening questionnaires for parents and carers and speak to a child’s school (for child assessments) so they can complete a descriptive account of the child’s school behaviour.
We will then arrange a time to complete a developmental history with you or your parents before conducting an observational assessment and QB check. Our detailed report will include recommendations for future support. We do not work with psychiatrists, so we cannot prescribe medications for ADHD.

PDA assessments in Surrey
Whilst Pathological Demand Avoidance is not recognised as a formal diagnosis and does not appear in diagnostic manuals, such as ICD-10 or DSM-V, we can look at it as a profile in the autism spectrum where individuals may avoid demands which are driven by anxiety and help them feel more in control.
We do not diagnose as we can’t because it is not recognised. However, we can include it as a profile of Autism Spectrum Disorder in a report if you would like us to explore this.
